Shuffle on the practice squad?

The Vikings released guard Jimmy Martin from the practice squad Tuesday but have not yet filled the position.
The Vikings could sign one of the players they worked out Tuesday. Former Denver Broncos quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt is not practice-squad eligible. Tony Bua, a linebacker/strong safety out of Arkansas, also is a borderline candidate. But defensive tackles Alvin Smith (Oregon State), Alex Guerrero (Boise State) and Steve Fifita (Utah) are all eligible, along with receiver Justin Surrency (Northern Iowa).

If the Vikings are serious about the "type" of players they want associated with their team....they wouldn't waste any time and would sign Justin Surrency. He's from St. Paul and is one of the finest young men you will ever meet.....and he's got some of the softest hand you'll ever see. This is the Vikings chance to not just "talk the talk" but to "walk the walk".

I agree! Justin is the kind of young man that is not only talented, but coachable. He is a home-grown athlete, who would have played in Seattle if that's how it worked...but to play for his home team? Well, that is something he would cherish...and he would work hard to make an impact and contribution. He is a stellar young man. Why not give him the shot?
