Kerney on Vikings radar?
Len Pasquarelli of ESPN has the Vikings as one of three possible destinations for the Pro Bowl defensive end.
Pasquarelli has very good sources, and he is based in the Atlanta area.
But I find it hard to imagine that the Vikings would be willing to shell out the kind of cash it'll take to land someone like Kerney.
He's 30 years old, and he's coming off an injury shortened season. But he does provide the one thing the Vikings defense needs: speed off the edge.
For his career, Kerney has 58 sacks, including a career-high 13 in 2004.
Kerney, who had a torn pectoral muscle in 2006, is well ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation,
Pasquarelli said.
The other possible spots are Denver and Tennessee.
Pasquarelli also mentions Dewayne White, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. White has 14 sacks in the last three seasons, including five in 2006.
ESPN also reported that cornerback Nick Harper could sign with the Vikings.

If the Vikings pursue a DE in free agency, it'll likely tip their hand that they won't be pursuing one in the draft. Either Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson seem like a good value at #7 -- some of the smarter mock drafts out there have the Vikings taking Adams (I instantly ignore the ones that predict the Vikes will reach for Ted Ginn Jr. or Dwayne Jarrett at #7) and personally I'd be happier with Adams than a lot of what's available in free agency.
Overall I'm not that impressed with this free agent class at any position, but some recent cuts did catch my attention -- I'm curious how Joe Horn and Tony Pashos in particular might look in purple, and I sure wouldn't be depressed to see Kris Dielman playing RG. (That'd be one expensive OL, however.)
I think adding at least one free agent WR and one more from the draft's first day (though not first round, unless they trade down) seems extremely likely . . . Troy Williamson might look a lot better lined up against oppenents' nickel backs. Or so I hope.
Another option - any hope that they trade down to between #10-#15 to some team that wants a crack at Quinn, and take TE Greg Olsen? He seems like the sole elite draft prospect at a definite need position.
Olsen sure would be nice. I know they haven't expressed any interest in Kris Dielman. That would just be too much money spent on the o-line!
I think either way you have to prepare yourself to have options in the draft. Personally I look for the Vikings to grab a situational pass rusher as we are fine in the run on base downs and wouldn't want to break it up... However, if we could land Kerney it would be great. If we sign a big name guy I would think that DE would probably be the position to do so.
Kevin Carter is also a FA
Marcellus Wiley is getting up their in age but could also be a good pass rusher if we used him sparingly, and perhaps because of his age we could get him for good value
