Sack man for hire

He doesn't fit the Vikings' young, up-and-coming profile, but a pass-rushing defensive end hit the market today.

Lance Johnstone, who had 40 sacks in five seasons with the Vikings before leaving for Oakland last year as an unrestricted free agent, was released by the Raiders to create room under the salary cap.

Johnstone's age (33) was another factor in the decision.

I would much rather see the Vikes bring back Johnstone than draft a DE in the first round.

Johnstone should be signed regardless of the draft. A defence that can't rush the passer is useless.

Someone is going to fall to the Vikings at 7, and if it's Gaines Adams, they should take him. Past picks are sunk costs, and eventually someone will pan out.

i wouldnt mind having ol' lance back in the land of 10,000 lakes. we definately could use a good pass rusher.
