Childress also said K Ryan Longwell has strep throat and will not practice today.

Is this you, Tarvaris?

Just joking.

I think we're far away from that. But if the Vikings do nosedive, I would think you'd have to play Jackson and Bollinger.

But, again, I think this is way, way premature.

I don't know about Tarvaris to NFL Europe. Sounds good in theory. But he looked solid enough to me that he won't need to go to Europe and risk serious injury, behind potentially terrible offensive linemen.

You make a very convincing argument for Jackson in NFL Europe. But I can't remember the last time a quarterback drafted as high as the second round went over there.

John,

You make a lot of good points. Jackson is raw, and the preseason isn't a great indicator. But I think the Vikings should try to work him into games at some point this season. Let's see how he handles himself. What impressed me about him was his poise, and his decision-making.

I really do appreciate your comments. You obviously know the game pretty well, and you make very good points. Please keep reading the blog and posting comments!
