SI weighs in on Vikings offseason moves
Sports Illustrated ranked the Vikings decision to "break the bank for" G Steve Hutchinson as the eighth worst move of the offseason. The Vikings made Hutchinson the NFL's top paid guard with a seven-year, $49 million contract.
Wonder what SI thinks of the Vikings since the magazine gave their worst move award to the Miami Dolphins for trading for QB Daunte Culpepper?

I don't agree with SI's assessment on Vikings decision to get Hutchinson for our OL.
Our OL was a total disaster last year. It's a wonder we ended up 9-7 with the multiple changes on the OL throughout the year.
So being 8th worse isn't too bad, but didn't Miami get suckered by taking Daunte. Hopefully, he'll recover to some form next year to finish his career with some highlights.
I agree that, given the cost, spotty play by the O-line this year reflects poorly on the trade. However, over a 5 year span, the line may become dominant and the trade could look good. The more wins they get the better it looks.
SI appears to be making short-term evaluations here. To do so is like grading the Moss trade last year (or the Culpepper trade this year) during the first season. Time will tell.
Well I didn't the SI story, but It wouldn't surprise me if signing Hutchinson was the 8th best move also.
