Smoot released
The Vikings announced that cornerback Fred Smoot has been released.
Smoot only last two seasons in Minnesota after signing a six-year, $34 million contract that included $10.8 million in guarantees.
Smoot was benched at the end of both seasons with the Vikings. Smoot had three interceptions for the Vikings, including one he returned for a touchdown last season.
