Holcomb to start

As expected, Kelly Holcomb will start at quarterback today for the Vikings, with Tarvaris Jackson (groin) serving as the third quarterback.

Also inactive for the Vikings are running back Chester Taylor, wide receiver Troy Williamson, fullback Tony Richardson, tight end Garrett MIlls, offensive tackle Chase Johnson, defensive tackle Fred Evans and defensive end Erasmus James.

Robert Ferguson will start in place of Williamson (hamstring) and Adrian Peterson will get his second straight start for Taylor (bruised oblique).

The Chiefs' inactives are: cornerback Rashad Barksdale, fullback Boomer Grigsby, safety Jon McGraw, linebacker Johnny Baldwin, guard Herb Taylor, wide receiver Eddie Kennison and defensive tackle James Reed.

Tyler Thigpen is the third quarterback.

I still wish they would've kept T. Thigpen. I think he has a shot at being a starter someday.

Nice game Vikes!

What should any of us Viking fans expect??? The front office did nothing to help this offense or the young QB this off season... NO RECEIVERS, you bring in Holcomb at the last possible second... This isn't just indicative of the first three games; this crap dates back to last season... Childress and the brain trust have no clue, no desire to improve this team, and us paying customers have nothing to show for the cash we throw down for merchandise, tickets, NFL Packages, Parking, time and energy...I'm not going to compare this regime to the previous, all I know is this one isn’t doing a good job and I see nothing that gives us Viking fans any hope.

This is it! They need to FIRE Childress now and start over again, How can you have a back like Peterson and not feature him in anyway that gets him the ball. They have no receivers or tight ends, The decision not to go after David Carr for little money look big now also the right side of the line was never addressed during free agency. This team is a mess I am sorry to say, I have been a life long fan since the 60's with hope but this is a disgrace. The assessment of talent is questionable.

Without a leader at QB, this team will continue to go no where. And unless they can trade for a qback with average talent, this team is 3 years away from being taken serious.

Someone has to go.

Every qb will have bad days, so I'm not ready to throw Holcomb under the bus yet. He is the reason that the Cleveland Browns (v. 2.0) have seen the playoffs. The idiocy came in taking a guy from Alabama State and expecting him to start in his second season without a single viable receiver on the roster.

I have spent the off-season lamenting the personnel decisions. A No. 1 WR opens things up for everyone else. I'm not sure that we have a No. 2 on the roster, much less a No. 1.

I think that Marty would be an excellent hire, provided that he's willing to keep Frazier. Marty is more of an administrative HC than a hand's on one, so I could see that working.
