Tomlin a Steelers finalist

Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin is one of the three finalists for the Pittsburgh Steelers head coaching vacancy, the team announced today.

Tomlin will interview extensively on Tuesday with Steelers' brass. The other two finalists are Steelers assistant head coach Russ Grimm, who will interview on Wednesday, and Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, whose interview will not take place until his team's season ends. The Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 27-24 in overtime in the NFC Divisional playoffs Sunday at Soldier Field.

"We are pleased with the progress of our search to date," Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement. "We now will move into the second interview phase and we are confident that each of the candidates on our short list will be excellent head coaches in the NFL. It is our task to determine which one is the best candidate for the Pittsburgh Steelers at this point in time.

"Our time frame remains as was stated at the beginning. We will conclude the search when we have found the best coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Tomlin, who just completed his first season as an NFL defensive coordinator, also interviewed for the vacancy in Miami. But he has not received a second interview from the Dolphins.

CAN TOMLIN INTERVIEW FOR THE VKINGS HEAD COACHING JOB???

AFTER SEEING THE RECENT DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES, BASED ON OUR OVERALL DEFENSIVE EFFORT, IM CONVINCED THE VIKES COULD HAVE BEATEN EITHER THE SAINTS OR THE BEARS, IF, AND A HUGE IF AT THAT, WE ONLY HAD AN OFFENSE AND THE REASON WE DONT HAVE AN OFFENSE IS CAUSE A VERY GOOD COORDINATOR WAS WRONGLY HIRED AS A HEAD COACH FOR THE VIKES THIS PAST SEASON. I SAY TO THE TRIANGLE OF AUTHORITY, MINUS CHILY, ADD SOME INSURANCE MONEY TO MR. TOMLIN,HAVE HIM STAY FOR THE 2007 SEASON, HIRE AN EXPERIENCED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, AND CHILY BALKS AT THIS MOVE OR IF CHILY DUPLICATES THE OFFENSES DISMAL PRODUCTION, GET HIM OFF OUR SIDELINE, PUT HIM BACK AS A VERY GOOD COORDINATOR FOR ANOTHER TEAM, HIRE MR. TOMLIN AS HEAD COACH (PLAYERS SEEM TO RESPOND TO HIM, SEE COACH BILLICK OF NEW ENGLAND AS TO HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS WITH HIS CAST OF MOSTLY NO NAMES AT KEY POSITIONS PERFORMING CAREER GAMES IN THE PLAYOFFS, BACK TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AGAIN) AND GET A REAL OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR TO WHIP THIS ONCE VAUNTED OFFENSE BACK INTO SHAPE. DO NOT LOSE MR. TOMLIN, WE WILL REGRET IT FOR AS LONG AS HE IS IN THE LEAGUE WHIPPING OUR BUTTS ON THE OPPOSING SIDELINE.
