Roll call on who is here...

It's confirmed that WR Kevin Curtis (St. Louis Rams) is here, along with TE Visanthe Shiancoe (New York Giants) and LB Vinny Ciuriu (Carolina Panthers).

I guess the weather didn't stop them from getting here.

Curtis will next visit Detroit, and the Rams don't expect him back. Shiancoe also is drawing interest from the Seattle Seahawks.

Could we see another Vikings-Seahawks offseason clash? Both clubs are also in the mix for Daniel Graham.

Meanwhile, former Vikings QB Brad Johnson is set for a visit with the Denver Broncos tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Vikings sign Kevin Curtis, just as long as they dont expect him to be more than a #2 receiver. I don't think he's meant to match up against the Champ Baileys of the world. One would think he'd find the Vikings more enticing than the Lions, at least in terms of likely playing time.

Unless the Vikings know something about Vinny Ciurciu that I don't, he seems like a depth/special teams guy and not a replacement for Napoleon Harris. I assume the starting LBs next year will be SLB Leber, MLB Henderson, and WLB Greenway . . . with Thomas as the primary backup . . .

Thanks for the frequent updates. Looks like I lost out on my hope of the Vikes getting Tony Pashos, but I can live.

Shiancoe? Ciurciu? Are these the big names we can expect the Vikings to recruit via free agency? While Denver, San Francisco and other teams aggressively pursue (and, yes, overpay at times) free agents to plug holes, we appear to be content picking from the scraps. I'm having flashbacks of Red McCombs. While I'm not suggesting the team spend foolhardily on several players, I would suggest they at least show the same determination that engaged the fanbase prior to last season. I realize the free agency pool isn't as strong as in previous years, but not signing any meaningful free agents puts a lot of pressure on the team not to miss on any players in the draft. I hope the next several days reveal more about this team's desire to improve a team with considerable deficiencies, not all of which can be filled via the draft.
