Moorehead to visit Monday

The Vikings are scheduled to host free-agent receiver Aaron Moorehead on Monday, the Indianapolis Star reported this morning.
Moorehead joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2003, and he has 23 career receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.
Moorehead is 6 foot 3, 200 pounds.
Moorehead hasn't done much in his NFL career. But he apparently comes from a fairly athletic family. His father, Emery, was a receiver/ tight end on the famed 1985 Chicago Bears championship team, and his cousin is Brad Daugherty, the longtime star center of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The more the merrier. He would have the forth most career reception on the team. Wade has the most with 101, the Williamson with 61, then McMullen with 45, then Nance with 4. That is kind of spooky if you ask me. I wish they would bring in Moulds, at least to be a mentor to these young guys.

I agree with Shane. I don't see how Moulds could be much worse than Marcus Robinson was last year, given similar playing time.

At least Moorhead has a Super Bowl ring. He was threatening to be a tall red zone threat for them for a few years there but seemed to have problems with consistency. When he filled in for an injured WR (usually Stokley, natch) he didn't seem to do much to assert himself. He wasn't bad, just not amazingly reliable. Sort of their version of Billy McMullen when he was an Eagle. He'll fit in well here.

Maybe the Vikings are just really angling for compensatory draft picks in 2008 or something . . . so far they've lost QB Brad Johnson, LB Napoleon Harris, TE Jermaine Wiggins, OL Jason Whittle . . . CB Fred Smoot was cut, so I don't think he counts . . . and they've only gained TE Shiancoe, LB Ciurciu, & WR Wade.

I have no idea how the compensatory draft system works but it does have something to do with losing players of greater value than players you gained, even if the total number of players gained & lost are a wash.

Is there someone projected to be a late sixth-round pick in 2008 that Childress can't wait to see in purple? That would explain everything.

Somebody wake me when the season starts so that we can discuss the topics of how many "blackouts" we can expect, and when the the "Chilly back to Philly" campaign begins.

Grab Moorehead and Moulds!! Fuck, even if you have to cut a few of them before the season begins, it's well worth it to have some bodies in there for camp.

I'm also all about giving Jason Carter his chance, though. Him and Tarvaris have been connecting since day one.

Good God, Aaron Moorehead is terrible. He gives us nothing we don't already have. Sign a proven guy for once, like Eric Moulds...

MOOREHEAD!!!!!! Yes!!!!!! I really hope the Vikings sign another bum receiver. Hopefully we can overpay him too. That would be great!!!!!
This is a complete waste of everyones time. Why bother bringing in a guy who in all reality should not even be in the NFL.

The Chilly/Spielman version of the Vikings seem to be intent on building their "foundation" with castoff's and rejects from other NFL clubs. Every one of our guys at WR is at best a 4th wide receiver on any other club. Not sure if Moulds is the answer either though. He has looked awful the last couple of years because he can no longer get separation at the line of scrimmage. That being said, Moulds is still better than anyone on the current roster. However, based on our mind numbing off-season so far, my money is on Chilly taking a pass on Mr. Moulds.

What is going on here? I know we don't like to sign ANY big name players, but COME ON! I can't believe this is who we are looking at. I'd rather we don't sign anybody else instead of signing another unproven receiver for too much money that isn't going to contribute. If Peyton Manning can't good numbers out of this guy, nobody will.

I'd rather draft a few receivers and see what the younger guys on our roster can do. Maurice Mann and Martin Nance could be promising, and maybe Jason Carter could begin this season on the team instead of the practice squad.

This year has been the most pathedic excuse for an off season i have ever seen. I mean come on a fucking reserve!!! We have got to be the laughing stock of pro football. Brad childress is a fucking idiot and hes making this team worse everyday. I dont care who the quarterback is when troy williamson is your best WR you know theres going to be problems. And who the hell is Bobby Wade. I cant wait to see there record after this year and all the black outs.
