Curtis to Eagles

The Vikings’ search for a No. 1 receiver is back to square one.

Scout.com reports that free agent Kevin Curtis has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on a six-year contract.

Curtis, formerly of the St. Louis Rams, visited the Vikings on the first day of free agency and also made stops in Detroit, Tennessee and with the New York Giants.

$9.5 million guaranteed? Nice work Philly. Kinda funny Brad Childress was outbid by his former team. I'm actually glad we didn't sign him for that much. Who's scheduled to be a free agent next year?

Now maybe we can take an old man WR that could help us for a year or two. Unless Shane is on the phone with TT. Wonder if he even wants to play here again?

I just got off the phone with TT and she (Tina Turner) says to sign Travis Taylor and stay away from Ike Taylor, she doesn't like Ike.

I don't know who may be free agent wide receivers next year, but I do know that good ones almost never hit the market unless they are crazy in the head, like TO. The draft is the best long term solution to the wide out problem, including the possibility of draft day trades.

I would like to see Taylor, Moulds, or McCardell though, but maybe not until after the draft. The market is too out of control right now to even get those guys for the right price.

Sean - you may have been reaching a bit here...

Yeah, our search is starting over - but if Curtis (40 catchs, 479 yards and only 4 TDs last year) was going to be our hope for a # 1 receiver, then we're not setting our sites very high.

I agree with nate - 9.5m (if that's the number) is crazy money for a 2nd or 3rd option receiver (which is what his stats show he is).

Are the purple going to do ANYTHING in this offseason? wow...I've been pessimistic with many of my posts, and I really don't want to be...I want to cheer. I want to get excited...would somebody please do SOMETHING!!!

Rich, Sean didn't post this particular blog, Don Seeholzer at dseeholzer@pioneerpress.com put it up, so he's the reacher. Sneaky Pioneer Pressman...

I don't know if I'd be snickering
too loud about the guaranteed money
Philly spent to aquire Curtis. I'd
take him as a player for 9.5m over
Shiancoe and his impressive stats and for 8.2m in 07 alone?! in a heartbeat.

Good point about Copper. He killed me in one of my fantasy football leagues this year. I watched him a few games and was surprised with him. Not sure if he could be a number one elsewhere, but he'd make a good addition here.
